Larch meadows at Giogo di Meltina

The larch meadows on the Möltner Joch are famous for their crocus blossoms in spring. The high alpine meadows bloom in the last weeks of April and the first days of May. It is a beautiful sight and a hike in spring is highly recommended.


The Möltner Joch in the Sarntal Alps is worth a hike at any time of year. The Schermoos car park between Mölten and Jenesien is a good starting point for a hike to the Möltner Joch.

Location and surroundings

The viewpoint is located at an elevation of 1.615 m in the municipality of Mölten, in the district community of Salten-Schlern. The surroundings belong to the “Forest zones” landscape unit. Geographically, the viewpoint is located in the mountain group Hirzer Group, in the area of Alte Rast and within Tschögglberg landscape protection area. The nearest locality or hamlet is Kampidell. Nearby are Mölten Pass (988 m), Auener Jöchl (4.9 km) and Remp Pond (6.8 km).
