The Stelvio Pass connects South Tyrol to Lombardy, serving as a crucial communication route. With its elevation of 2,757 meters, it holds the distinction of being Italy's highest pass accessible via a paved road, and it ranks as the second highest pass in the Alps. The standout characteristic of the Stelvio lies in the striking contrast between the formidable peaks of Tyrol, particularly the Ortles group, and the road that traverses through it.
In the lower part of our field of vision, we can see the "Ferdinandshöhe" mountain hotel. As we reach the summit of the pass, various structures come into view, along with the cables of the Stelvio cable car. Shifting our focus towards the mountains, we can distinguish the Vedr Piana and Vedretta Madaccio glaciers. Just slightly to their left, the peak of Ortles (3,905 m), Tyrol's loftiest mountain, emerges majestically through the shrouds of clouds.
