La Costa/Seit over Laives/Leifers

La Costa/Seit is a small fraction of Laives/Leifers. La Costa/Seit is known for its tasty chestnuts. In autumn you can walking through the woods and meadows of the scattered farms of La Costa/Seit, you can see countless mighty chestnut trees. The collection of chestnuts is – of course - not allowed.


Today, the chestnut trees are not even green. But we have here under the in “Rutterhof” a great view over the “Südtiroler Unterland”: among us we can see the church of LA Costa, in the valley below the city of Laives, in the background the “Salurner Klause”, right back into the foreground the “Mitterberg” and the mountain of the Mendola/Mendel.

Location and surroundings

The viewpoint is located at an elevation of 928 m in the municipality of Leifers, in the district community of beretsch-Südtiroler Unterland / Oltradige-Bassa Atesina. The surroundings belong to the “Forest zones” landscape unit. Geographically, the viewpoint is located in the mountain group Nova Ponente Plateau and in the area of Rosser Valley. The nearest locality or hamlet is Seit. Nearby are Rotwand (1.3 km), Furglauer Saddle (10.7 km) and Small Montiggl Lake (5.3 km).
