Pyramids of earth will arise out of moraines of the ice age. The rain water slowly flush out the ground, but, because moraines contain a lot of clay, after the rain the earth quickly becomes hard again. If a stone offers shelter from the rain, the ground beneath the stone remains intact. So it forms a slightly pyramidal pillar with a hat of stone. The ideal hat is rectangular and lightly inclined to the valley. Also pyramids without a stony hat exist.
