Lake Kaltern, a bathing lake in the south of South Tyrol, is 1,800 m long and 900 m. Is the largest natural lake in South Tyrol. Often it is called the warmest lake in the Alps. With an average depth of only 4 metres, this is hardly surprising. Here is a view of the lake in autumn with the bathing establishments on the lake. To the north we see Kaltern on the Wine Road, to the western we see St. Josef am See, to the south the view reaches as far as Tramin on the Wine Road. The striking structure on the Mitterberg is the Leuchtenburg castle ruins.
